If there is one thing I am really good at it is procrastinating, it is my most powerful ninja skill. I realize that most people think of procrastinators as being lazy. But it’s not so much that I’m lazy, ok, I’m sorta lazy. But that’s not why I procrastinate. I procrastinate because I love to put things off to the last minute, I love finishing things just in the nick of time. I do my best work when I’m up against a deadline. I liken it to the same reason I don’t fill up my gas tank until the needle is buried way below “E”. It’s sorta fun, in a admittedly stupid way.
So, what is it that I’m putting off this time that would make me write about it here? The answer, moving, It’s time to move the boat. Not a big deal really. We move the boat all the time when we go out for sails. But this move is different, we have to move from our regular spot in the marina to a new one. Still, it’s not like moving from one house or apartment to another, with the boxes and the moving vans and the fun of watching your buddies squirm when they try to push their pathetic excuses as to why they can’t help you move. Nope, none of that. When you live on a boat and decide it’s time to move, you simply do just that. You startup the engine, unplug the shore power, untie the dock lines (ropes to you landlubbers) and move the boat, your home to the next location.
To me this is a large part of the appeal of living on a boat. New neighbors, new views, new…uh…new. I love change.
Anyway, the marina is undergoing a remodel and the dock we live on now is being torn down. We have until November 6th to move or be moved to E dock. So we are gonna do that, but not just yet. It’s only about an 1/8 of mile away. But I’ve got until the 6th to move and I see no reason to move until then. *Karate Chop*
