Moving day!! (CB)

As much as I wanted to be the last boat off the dock we just couldn’t swing it. When we finally pulled away from the dock there were 6 other boats still there. Granted 4 of those boats were the ones that we NEVER see anyone on. But there was one other boat there that has liveaboards, and they moved on Monday night! Bastards!

Before we moved we helped the boat directly across from us move his boat. His engine was acting up and did not trust it completely, so Tawn and another neighbor jumped on his boat and helped with the lines and I followed in our dinghy to push or pull as needed if his engine decided to quit. It did’nt, but it’s good to get the Karma.

At any rate, we are safely tied up on E dock slip 40. It is a much nicer dock and there are alot of liveaboards on this dock. Which means lots of cookouts in the summer time and potlucks in the winter. Things like this never happen in neighborhoods on land…not anywhere i’ve lived before anyway. In the eight months we’ve been living on our boat. I know more nieghbors by name and have either borrowed or loaned tools, chatted on the docks with them or been over to their boat or had them over to ours for drinks and/or dinner. I’ve always made friends easily or had a lot of friends to hang out with. But never been this friendly or interacted this much with neighbors since I was a little kid growing up.
Life on a boat is good.

Who loves procrastinating??….We do! (CB)

If there is one thing I am really good at it is procrastinating, it is my most powerful ninja skill. I realize that most people think of procrastinators as being lazy. But it’s not so much that I’m lazy, ok, I’m sorta lazy. But that’s not why I procrastinate. I procrastinate because I love to put things off to the last minute, I love finishing things just in the nick of time. I do my best work when I’m up against a deadline. I liken it to the same reason I don’t fill up my gas tank until the needle is buried way below “E”. It’s sorta fun, in a admittedly stupid way.

So, what is it that I’m putting off this time that would make me write about it here? The answer, moving, It’s time to move the boat. Not a big deal really. We move the boat all the time when we go out for sails. But this move is different, we have to move from our regular spot in the marina to a new one. Still, it’s not like moving from one house or apartment to another, with the boxes and the moving vans and the fun of watching your buddies squirm when they try to push their pathetic excuses as to why they can’t help you move. Nope, none of that. When you live on a boat and decide it’s time to move, you simply do just that. You startup the engine, unplug the shore power, untie the dock lines (ropes to you landlubbers) and move the boat, your home to the next location.

To me this is a large part of the appeal of living on a boat. New neighbors, new views, new…uh…new. I love change.

Anyway, the marina is undergoing a remodel and the dock we live on now is being torn down. We have until November 6th to move or be moved to E dock. So we are gonna do that, but not just yet. It’s only about an 1/8 of mile away. But I’ve got until the 6th to move and I see no reason to move until then. *Karate Chop*

A new feature of the site has been added. (CB)

I’m toying around with a new feature on this site. I’m adding a “Charts and Maps” page. You can click on the link entitled “Charts & Maps” and on that page you will see a list of different maps showing different locations that we either think are cool or have been to on our boat and have mentioned here on the website.

Right now there are only a few, but I will be adding more soon and with cool new features as I learn how to implement them properly.

Yay! Pictures are not huge anymore. (CB)

Ok, I resized the giant ass pictures, so all should be good to go now. We took a trip this weekend. I’ll post more about it later.
