Back to the land of pockets.

Ok, we are back home and back to work. We have a ton of pictures and some video we took on the trip. I have not uploaded any of the pictures to the web yet. I’ll get on that very soon.

In case your wondering what the “land of pockets” is (and I’m sure you are since it’s something retarded I made up a couple days ago). It’s a stupid realisation that I came to the first day we got back.

We got back home on Monday afternoon.  And after cleaning up the boat and doing a few other clean up things we decided to go over to some friends boat for drinks and dinner. But we needed some food to bring and some beer. So I volunteered to go do it. As I was stepping off the boat on to the dock. I realized I needed a few items:

  •  Jeep keys
  • Wallet
  • Cell Phone

None of these items had been used by me in the last month (well maybe the wallet, but only a few times). As I patted my pockets after retreiving them I realized that I had a habit of patting my pockets when I left the boat to make sure I had all the tools I needed to survive the urban terrian.

I did actually upload one picture from the trip. It was taken on the 3rd day of the vacation as we were headed up to Princess Louisa Inlet. The two boats ahead of us are our friends “Ghost” and “Wind Dancer”.

Headed to Princess Louisa Inlet

Almost time for the big vacation.

Been awhile since I posted anything. We have not really been up to awhole lot. A few short trips here or there. Mostly we have been doing boat projects and getting everything taken care of for our big trip this summer.

We are taking off Saturday night/sunday morning at midnight and heading north up into Canada. We will be gone for a month, from July 12th through August 13th.

We are leaving from here and going to Bedwell Harbor to clear into Canadian customs, then the next day heading further north to meet up with friends of our on their boats, Ghost & Wind Dancer in Pender Harbor.  From there we will head up to Princess Louisa Inlet. After that we don’t really have any exact plans for the next 3 weeks. Just going were we feel like going.

If we find some internet connections while we are up there I will post some updates and pictures if we are able. If not I will update as soon as we get back.

This post is for Tom.

He said he wanted more sailing videos…..so he gets more sailing videos…

This video was taken last weekend, we had sailed over to Poulsbo for the towns Viking fest……uh. Small town wierdness, who does’nt love that. But we did meet up with some friends of ours on their boat Hawkwind and had a good time and a few nightcaps.

This first video was taken on our way over on Saturday evening. Unfortunetly we were sailing west into the setting sun. So there is a bit of glare. But you get the idea. The wind was blowing about 22-25 knots gusting to 27 out of the south. Nice, sunny and warm. Enjoy:

And this second video was taken a couple days later on our way home. Actually, we had to wait about an hour for the tide to turn in our favor so we could get through Agate passage. Same south wind, just not as warm as it was on Saturday. Only blowing about 12-15 knots.

Happy Ocho De Mayo!!

Monday May 5th (Cinco de Mayo) is a prime example of why living on a boat is far more fun than living in a house/apt./condo. Me and Tawn were unloading something out of the back of my Jeep on Monday morning as a friend of ours walks up and tells us they are having a Cinco de Mayo dock party on their boat at around 6pm.

Awesome!

We go about our daily goofing off and hop in the dinghy and head down to D dock where Mike and Amy keep thier boat “Peregrin” docked. We brought a bunch of Tamales and beer. Mike is cooking up a big batch of Enchaladas, we are introduced to a couple friends of theirs and start talking boats….

Within an hour there are 15 people from up and down the dock and marina adding food to the pot luck and beer to the cooler. I spot another friend of mine a few docks over working on his boat and zip over and invite him.

An hour after that and there are easily 30+ people at the Monday night Cinco de Mayo dock party, having a great time, eating awesome food. One guy rolled up a dock cart with a small grill in it and is cooking up an awesome batch of tortilla soup. We all hung out well into the night, probably way to loud for a Monday night. But no one complained or if they did, they ended up grabbing a drink and a plate of food and hanging out for awhile.
